Hydrangea Annabelle x 1
Hydrangea arborescens

This hydrangea variety is famous for its profusion of large showy flowering heads on a deep green shrub.

Hardy and versatile cottage garden plants.

Able to survive periods of drought.

Often used as hedges and borders.

Can be cut back really hard in Winter.

Beautiful in floral arrangements and can be used for pot pourri.

Rabbit resistant.

Full sun to quite shady positions are suitable. (In the hotter parts of Australia, plant them in a position that protects them from the hot afternoon sun in Summer.)

Deciduous.

Feed well in late Winter after cutting back to encourage strong vigorous growth and flowers in Spring and Summer.

Large balls of white flowers that can reach 20-25cm in width.

Height: approx 90 to 150cm.

"After the flowers have faded and fallen, a skeleton of fine tracery remains to catch the frost and low winter sunshine. So this is one hydrangea that deserves a prominent place in every garden, somewhere it can shine in three seasons - summer, autumn and winter." (Val Bourne, Telegraph UK, accessed 21/1/2012)
