Crinkled mophead flowering with cupped flowers that first emerge cream, transitioning to lavender/lilac/pink/pale blue colouring, depending on soil (see further below).
This is a taller growing variety with approximately a final height of around 1.5 metres.
Can be cut back quite hard.
Thicker stems to hold the very large mophead flower clusters
Also beautiful cut flowers.
Serrated glossy leaves that are lime green when young and then mature into deep green.
Often grown for their foliage structures.
Can handle part to quite shaded areas in the garden.
Will grow in a wide range of soils.
Some salt tolerance.
They make great specimens interplanted through gardens as well as in large pots or even as espaliers against a fence or in small gardens.
Great border plants.
They will form a good shape by themselves although you can trim and train them to your desired growth requirements.
They can be cut back hard in late Autumn and they will reshoot in Spring.
Also make great dried flowers for home, art or potpourri.
Important Information
The acid levels in the soil will greatly determine the flower colour of this hydrangea variety.
Acidic soils bring out the blues, lilacs and purples.
Neutral soils bring out the reds and pinks.
Alkaline soils bring out reds and burgundy centres.
To increase acid levels in your soil, you can add aluminum sulphate and this brings out the intense blues of the variety; for the pinks and reds, please add lime.
This need to be done before blooms form.
Or you can just simply plant them straight into the soil and just let the natural soil pH levels determine colours.
We work hard to try and ensure our notes on the variety/varieties listed are true and correct, but do not accept any responsibility for errors or information that may have occured either by my staff or or myself.
