Acacia dealbata

Also known as Blue Wattle, Mimosa

Family: Fabaceae

 
A hardy small to medium sized native tree.
 
Acacia dealbata was chosen to receive the Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society.
 
Drought resistant once established.
 
Frost hardy to around minus 7 degrees.
 
Suitable for coastal areas.
 
Bird and insect attracting.
 
Will tolerate pollution, so is suitable for planting in car parks,
 on roadsides etc.
 
Position: Prefers a sunny position.

Can handle both wet and dry soils.
 
Foliage: Beautiful fernlike foliage
 
Evergreen.
 
Flowers: Golden pom-pom flowers in clusters late winter to spring
 
Can grow up to 30 metres tall though usually around 10 metres
