Acacia myrtifolia

Family: Fabaceae

A hardy shrub originating from southern Australia.
 
Drought resistant once established.
 
Moderate frost resistance (to around minus 4 degrees).
 
Bird and insect attracting.
 
Will keep a compact shape if pruned regularly, producing new red growth throughout the year.
 
Useful for erosion control.
 
Ideal for areas requiring low maintenance, such as roadsides, windbreaks, native gardens etc.

 

Position: Full sun to semi-shade.

Will grow in a variety of soil types.

 

Foliage: Approx 2-5cm in length, usually with yellow margins.
 

Flowers: Creamy yellow pom-pom flowers in Winter and Spring.
 

Height: Approx 1.5 to 2 metres.

Width: Approx 1.5 to 2 metres.
