Family Haemodoraceae

Hardy yellow flowering native grass-like strap plants.

Most Kangaroo Paws are natives to southern Western Australia.

The foliage grows to around 35cm tall.

The bright yellow flowers, rising above the plants on stalks over a metre tall, is often used as a contrast or highlight amongst other colourful varieties in the garden.

Excellent cut flowers.

Will attract birds and insects to your garden.

They do not like too much watering.

Underground rhizomes store water and nutrients. This allows them to tolerate long periods of dry, and is why they are recognised for their drought tolerance.

In humid areas, they need to be grown in well-ventilated positions.

Full sun to semi-shade.
