Oz Box Hedge x 1
Lonicera nitida
Also known as Box Leaved Honeysuckle

They can be grown as a short hedge of 15cm or up to 180cm tall.

Much faster growing, yet with a similar form to the traditional English box hedge (buxus sempervirens) varieties.

This pointed-ovalled leaved medium shrub is frost hardy, likes full sun to semi shade and is quite adaptable.

The new growth is fine and very easy to trim.

The frosts of winter add a beautiful purple hue to its foliage.

If fed and watered regularly they will create a 30cm border in around 12 months.   A  60cm high border inaround 20 months and a  90-100cm border in around 30 months.

For hedging the following rule works quite well.
Plant your plants 20% closer than what you want the final height of your hedge to be.
Eg: For a 100cm hedge plant them 80cm apart
For a 50cm hedge plant them 40cm apart
For a 25 cm hedge plant them 20cm apart

For hedges over 1.2  metres tall I suggest that you plant them 1 metre apart as this closer planting will ensure a tighter hedge from top to bottom

Because of its tight foliage, this variety is suited to many positions in the garden.

Apart from the obvious hedging, topiary, bonsai and privacy screening uses, it is also attractive as a background and border plant.

 Wind resistant.

Avoid heavy pruning in the hot season.
