Widely grown by the timber and Christmas tree industries. They usually grow faster as Christmas trees if grow in the ground as Christmas trees, but be willing to cut them off at the base once they start getting too big…. The really do grow fast once they get established…

Popular due to their fast growth and the structural qualities of their timber and how they can be trained to grow as beautiful christmas trees.

Long living, with decades of growth\

Drought and frost resistant once established

Can be left to grow to their full spread, or contained by regular hard pruning.
Never prund back to bare wood as most conifers only shoot from where there is still green growth.

Many uses including windbreaks, stock shelter belts on farms, long fence lines, screens, topiary, bonsai or as magnificent features interspersed within a larger garden.

Full sun to semi-shade. Will thrive in most soil conditions.

Not for waterlogged areas.

Foliage: Long thin pine needles.

Height: Approx 35 metres in around 35 years.
Will grow between 50-100cm per year if treated right.
