Nice sized fruit at approx 7-10g.
Very long living. The world's oldest olive tree is around 2000-3000 years old. Will usually live for centuries with minimal care.
Also great source of natural oils and wood.
Attractive blue/grey/green foliage with silver undersides.
Good frost resistance (minus 11C).
Will also grow in coastal areas.
Tolerates long periods of dry.
Grow in full sun to semi shade.
Cream/white flowers in Spring that develop green fruit which ripens red to black in Summer through to Autumn.
This plant also has medicinal, herbal and beauty therapeutic qualities (please confirm uses with qualified practitioners before using or killing yourself with them).
The trunks start of a smooth grey when young and can be come quite gnarled and twisted with age.
Often found in bonsai and topiary forms.
Great also for hardy pots and container plantings.
Can also be trained as flat espaliers against walls, fences etc for small areas.
Originally from Mediterranean areas, olives can grow in rocky and impoverished soil and can adapt to a wide soil range as they are hardy and resilient; yet the best soil is rich, fertile, well drained.
Use General Purpose fertiliser in Autumn and Spring as per instructions.
They do not like badly drained soil. If your area is waterlogged you will need to raise the soil level by around 50cm with topsoil and plant them into that.
We work hard to try and ensure our notes on the variety/varieties listed are true and correct, but do not accept any responsibility for errors or information that may have occured either by my staff or or myself.
